During the fall of 2000, Youth Together students conducted a needs assessment, and began meeting with the skyline community stakeholders to develop solutions. The community at Skyline demonstrated a significant need and support for a Youth Center, so the S.H. Cowell Foundation and the San Francisco Foundation funded a youth-led planning process that involved key community stakeholders in the development of a business plan. After much hard work and planning, the Youth Center opened at Skyline High School in the fall of 2002.
Today, Youth Together serves as the 21st Century organization that runs After School Programs at Skyline High School. We strive to engage community programs that can give our students new, immersive experiences, and work hard to integrate our cultures not as an afterthought, but as an integral piece of everything we do. Our goal is to make sure that all students on site have opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t, so that they can be college, career, and life ready!
