The Alliance for Educational Justice (AEJ) is a new national alliance of youth organizing and intergenerational groups working for educational justice. AEJ aims to bring grassroots groups together to bring about changes in federal education policy, build a national infrastructure for the education justice sector, and build the capacity of our organizations and our youth leaders to sustain and grow the progressive movement over the long haul.
Founded in 1997 with General Colin Powell as Chairman and chaired today by Alma Powell, America’s Promise Alliance is a cross-sector partnership of more than 300 corporations, nonprofits, faith-based organizations and advocacy groups that are passionate about improving lives and changing outcomes for children. America’s Promise makes a top priority of ensuring that all young people graduate from high school ready for college, work and life. The work involves raising awareness, encouraging action and engaging in advocacy to provide children the key supports we call the Five Promises: Caring adults, Safe Places, A Healthy Start, An Effective Education and Opportunities to Help Others.
The Campaign for Quality Education is a statewide coalition of grassroots, civil rights, policy and research organizations committed to educational equity for all communities in California’s public schools. The CQE leads strategic campaigns that integrate our strengths in community organizing, research, legal and policy advocacy to achieve equitable and just education policies. The CQE engages communities of color and low-income communities to actively develop state and local education policy agendas, inspire a public consciousness that genuinely values education, and advance the movement for racial, social and economic justice.
MSE is a new initiative that is part of the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) that helps to increase student leadership and engagement in schools.
