Tony Douangviseth

Executive Director

Tony Douangviseth is the Executive Director of Youth Together. He attended San Francisco State University and majored in Ethnic Studies. In 2007, he returned to his alma mater as a Program Assistant, Youth Center Collaborative Director 2009 and became Director of Programs in 2016. His passion is to support and develop young people who grow up in the most impoverished neighborhoods to become successful and help their communities thrive. If Tony had all the time in the world he would spend it building things while listening to 90’s hip hop and R&B or spend time with his family on the beach.

Nancy Phan

Internship Coordinator

Nancy Phan is the Internship Coordinator at the One Land One People Youth Center at Skyline High School. She is currently finishing out her last year and a half before transferring to a California State University as a Psychology major. Entering her 10th grade year in 2010, she was given an opportunity to intern for the Youth Center. Nancy has been apart of the Youth Center staff since 2012. Her passion is in the youth development field. She always knew she wanted to help people, and through her work at OLOP she realized it’s working and supporting young people. If she had all the time in the world, she would spend time putting her thoughts, experience, and life into pictures and poetry.

Meesh Cabal

Site Organizer

Meesh Cabal, is originally from Victorville, CA and moved to the Bay Area to attend the University of California Berkeley. The Bay Area has been home for Meesh for the past four years. As a Queer, Pilipinx, Non-Binary person; it has been a mission to not only find spaces where they can exist in the fullness of oneself, but to continue to create and redefine community with folks also seeking a sense of liberation. Meesh recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor’s Degree in Ethnic Studies, and a minor in Global Poverty and Practice with an emphasis on education. “Working with Youth Together is a space where my passion for community, education, and social justice all intersect.” Meesh began as an intern for Youth Together’s Castlemont site before becoming Skyline’s Site Organizer last year. “Teaching and learning from passionate young people through this organization has only affirmed my aspirations to pursue a Master’s in Education.”

Eric Adams

Site Organizer

Eric Adams is a Queer Oakland native from the Deep East Oakland. An OUSD & UCLA graduate, he moved back home after undergrad school to take care of his family and currently resides in the Fruitvale community. “I’m all about education, and aspire to go on to get my M.Ed and teach, whether it’s at a high school or college.” Eric is an artist, musician, and super nerd, and in his spare time, he likes to watch animated shorts and play video games. “I can talk to most anyone about anything, and I try to be a good listener, so anyone who needs an ear can usually count on me.” Eric was also a Youth Together Lead Student Organizer while attending Youth Empowerment High School.

Edwin Gomez

Academic Coach

Raised in the slums of Oakland,CA Edwin became a gun/drug dealer by the age of 13. He was mentored by O.G’s, also known as original gangsters from both black and brown neighborhoods and learned “the ways of the streets”. Edwin learned a lot about life’s up’s and down’s by the age of 18. And by the age of 21 had been blessed by more than a handful of life changing events which ultimately landed him in a place where he was able to, not only escape the harsh realities that, even today continue to imprison young men like himself, but also a place from where he was able to shed valuable insight and experience to the younger generation of places that he was taught to call home. Today he works with African and Latino American young men as an Academic Coach but plays a larger roles by teaching them real life lessons.  

Guadalupe Gomez

Parent Organizer

Guadalupe Gomez is the Parent Organizer of Youth Together. She attended Community College & some semesters in the University at Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico. She graduated in 1990 earning her master in Finances and a degree in Social Worker. She started working with Youth Together in 2009 as a Parent Liaison and is currently the Family Liaison & Parent Organizer. Her passion is working with families to support and developing their skills as leaders, providing them with the tools and information to help make positive changes in their family, in the school and in the community. Guadalupe is the bridge between the school, the family and the community services. If Guadalupe had all the time in the world she would spend it building a rehabilitation center to help youth that are involved in gangs and drugs listening and listen to 80’s music disco. Her favorite song is “I will survive” with Gloria Gaynor.

Gemma Lira

FRESH Program Coordinator

Gemma Lira is the FRESH program coordinator at the One Land One People (OLOP)  Youth Center at Skyline High School. She is currently attending Chabot Community College in Hayward as a biology major. She plans on transferring to UC Berkeley as a molecular cell biology major and then attend medical school to become a doctor. She is very passionate in helping develop, educate and support youth because she knows they are the future. She is also very passionate in helping everyone especially people who need it the most. If Gemma had all the time in the world she would crack the lottery.

Danielle Armstrong

After-School Site Coordinator

Danielle Armstrong is currently the Site Coordinator for the Skyline OLOP Youth Center. She attended the University of California, Berkeley and majored in Rhetoric with a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies. In 2015, she began working at Skyline High School as a College Advisor and began working with Youth Together in 2017. Her passion is to improve the lives of the people in her community; she believes that education is a key component towards making this happen.  With limitless time, Danielle would spend her time exploring different parts of the world.

Rodney Kirkpatrick

Operations Coordinator

YT Since 2016

Rodney Kirkpatrick is the After School Operations Coordinator at the Youth Center. Rodney wanted the position because it helped him develop as a well-rounded person. “I am really passionate about storytelling. If I had all the time in the world, I would take a long vacation, a really long vacation, somewhere in Canada. Definitely somewhere where all I can hear is nature.”
