Grounded in our commitment to unity, peace, and justice, Youth Together addresses the root causes of educational inequities by developing multiracial youth organizers and engaging school community allies to promote positive school change.
Guiding Principles
To achieve long-term resolutions to racial conflicts and inequities in our school communities, we believe that youth must take the lead in addressing the root problems and creating long-term solutions.
We believe that true youth and community empowerment comes from youth and community members advocating and organizing on their own behalf.
We believe that strategies must address the interconnection between community health and well-being and the conditions faced by our youth and school communities.
We believe that effective school organizing and community-building efforts should be multiracial and driven by youth and community needs.
We believe that our work must be grounded in an analysis of our history of oppression as well as unity, and connected with our current conditions so that we may continue the legacy of our struggle for justice and equality. In this context, we believe we must take both personal action to rid ourselves of negative conditoning and community action to organize people to work for social change.
