Youth Together, in collaboration with parents and families, hosted our first Cultural Cuisine & Storytelling Fundraiser on October 19th, 2018.
Cultural Cuisine Nights are an opportunity for students, parents, and families to come together and enjoy tastes of each others’ cultures, while hearing the stories, experiences, and legends that relate to the food or the ethnic experience overall. Cultural Cuisine Nights will take place at different locations around the Oakland community once a month, and all community members, students, and parents are welcome to join. If you’d like to be a part of sharing a cultural cuisine and/or telling your story, make sure to reach out to Nancy Phan at firstname.lastname@example.org
Our October Cuisine Night featured tamales, champurrado, and jamaica, as well as stories from some our students and parents involved with our Lead Student & Parent Organizer internships.
